Sundin signs with Vancouver
Can’t say that I saw this coming…

After months of speculation, former Toronto Maple Leafs Captain, Mats Sundin has signed to play his 18th NHL season with the Vancouver Canucks.
It was basically between Vancity and the Rangers for picking up this veteran and it seems like he will stay in Canada to help Luongo and the Canucks do something with the rest of their season.
It seems slightly odd that someone with Sundin’s calibre and tenure in the NHL would go for a team that is not showing much promise for being contenders for Lord Stanley’s Mug as opposed to the New York Rangers that have a solid chance at making a run…as long as Chris Drury starts stepping his game up.
Deciding factor? Money talks and bull shit walks. One basically has to speculate that winning the cup in Mats’ career is less important than getting a twenty million dollar pay-cheque over the next two years. I’m sure that his agent, J.P. Barry, is pretty stoked on the cut that he’s about to receive.
